Leadership Interact Highlights: Hashtag to Handshake
Kaplan Genesis hosted another installment of their Leadership Interact sessions at the Abu Dhabi Global Markets Academy on Monday 26th November in collaboration with React: our 'Acting for Business' partners.
This event focused on how to manage the millennial workforce as experts predict that by 2025, three-quarters of the global workforce will belong to this generation.
The session was led and facilitated by Mira Raley of Kaplan Genesis and with additional support from our React business actors, we were able to introduce 'Forum Theatre' to the attendees. This interactive form of role-play began with a pre-written scenario and improv conversations between professional actors which then responded and reacted to inputs and suggestions from the audience.
The following were the key highlights of this half-day interactive session:
Sharing research which opened up an interactive group discussion around the impact of social, economical, political and technological nuances that presented the rationale and influences behind the millennial mindset
React: conducted a role-playing session which perfectly showcased the gap between the managerial style of a Gen-X manager and the expectations from millennial workforce. The scenario was then replayed by the actors where the audience were now allowed to recommend suggestions to the conversation for a suitable outcome
Event concluded with a discussion on how to bridge the gap between outdated managing styles and millennial workforce at an individual, business unit and organizational level. At this stage, the audience got involved in sharing best practices and the explored role of 'Learning Governance' and 'Democratization of Learning' in aligning employee development to organization's commercial strategy
All topics at the workshop had one common purpose: understanding millennials better to derive the maximum value from their potential.
